Rationale
UK children are some of the most unhappy in the world with a sharp increase of mental health problems. Creative activity is known to have tangible effects on health and wellbeing, stress reduction and general quality of life.
Education has leant towards the STEM subjects (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths) ) with investment backing this up. Arts and creative subjects are often considered as "soft" subjects despite their scientifically proven value on development of creativity, social skills and self-confidence.
Art and creative ability does contribute to the economy - currently worth 76.9 billion per year to the UK economy. The number of jobs in the creative economy has increased by over 8% in the last year and is growing 5 times faster than the wider UK economy.
They are the songs we listen to, the films we watch, the games we play, and the digital apps we use.
